Swimming Galas for All
30 January 2023 - All
On Wednesday 25 January, 12 of our Level 2 LV Sports Leaders hosted our annual Primary School and Disability Schools Swimming Galas. This is always an excellent event, and we thoroughly enjoy working with these schools in the community. Rachel Hutchinson, the Schools Partnership Manager, was impressed with how our leaders conducted themselves with their adaptability and their enthusiasm throughout the day.
These events give pupils the opportunity to develop their communication, teamwork and self-management skills. They spent hours meticulously planning the event, creating invitations and curating a great warm-up playlist; they were eager to ensure it ran smoothly. As always, there were small challenges that arose during both of the galas, and the leaders put their problem-solving skills to the test, coming up with a solution quickly to keep the event running smoothly.
The Primary Schools gala is a highly competitive event, as the winners from the boys and girls sections respectively are awarded a place in the County competition. With seven schools in attendance, it was great to see the array of talent on display and more importantly, the immense support for all swimmers from every school. The Disability Schools gala in the morning was less competitive but equally as exciting, with the winner’s shield to contend for.
Upon reflection, the leaders have said how much they valued the experience and how rewarding it is to see the end result of all of the hard work they put in. It was pleasing to see each of them grow in confidence throughout the planning and delivery of the galas; they should be very proud of their achievement!
The results were as follows:
