Creating a World-Class Welcome
Wycombe Abbey is commencing work on a major improvement to the School’s main entrance as part of the first phase of our long-term Estates Masterplan. This significant project will enhance the experience of everyone arriving at the School and strengthen the overall safety and efficiency of site access.
The decision to redevelop the entrance has been carefully considered. The existing arrangements have long presented challenges relating to traffic flow, vehicle and pedestrian safety, accessibility, and the overall visitor experience.
The new entrance will:

Reduce congestion on Frances Dove Way.

Provide a more welcoming and efficient arrival experience for all.
Key Features of the New Entrance
A purpose-built Custodians’ Lodge and Visitor Reception to improve access control and reception facilities.
Separate entrance and exit routes to better manage traffic flow, support security checks, and reduce the backing up of traffic on Frances Dove Way (A404).
Improved pedestrian routes and level access for greater accessibility across the site.
Enhanced landscaping to complement the Abbey setting and create an attractive arrival space with dedicated visitor parking and EV charging.
A dedicated post room and delivery area to streamline School operations.
Part of a Long-Term Vision
This project forms part of Phase 1 of the Wycombe Abbey Masterplan - a strategic programme of development to be delivered over the next 15+ years. The Masterplan represents a significant investment in the School’s boarding, academic, and general facilities so as to provide the best possible educational environment for pupils and staff. The Main Entrance redevelopment complements the other Phase 1 projects: the Innovation and Design Centre and the new Junior House, which are currently awaiting planning permission.
The Custodians' Lodge project is due to be complete by the end of August 2026 and we are confident that this project will bring long-term benefits to the entire School community and support our commitment to providing world-class facilities for our pupils.
