Pipers Corner Reading Group Trip

Today the UIII Reading Group ventured to Pipers Corner School to participate in a morning of activities and discussion about the eight books nominated for the prestigious Carnegie Medal. They mixed with eight other Buckinghamshire schools to debate and vote on which book they felt was worthy of winning the award. The discussions proved fierce, provocative, constructive, and extremely rewarding. Ultimately, ‘The Poet X’ by Elizabeth Acevedo was voted the winner. Our group agreed that it was a worthy champion and we were exceptionally proud to listen to their eloquent and passionate opinions about their personal favourites on the shortlist. We wait until the 18th June to see whether our choice matches the judges’ choice.
