Highlights 2019

March 22, 23 and 24 saw the Dance Department take over LAC theatre for their annual show, Highlights. 100 girls from UIII to UVI took part in the performance which displayed several dance genres, from classical ballet all the way through to street dance.  Auditions and rehearsals for Highlights begun as early as September last year, with over 75 girls auditioning for roles within the more advanced groups. The continued high standard of dance at Wycombe Abbey saw a new group created this year, the ‘elite dance’ group.

Audiences were wowed with choreography from West End hit musical Chicago and contemporary dance classic Alvin Ailey’s Revelations, as well as music from Mary Poppins Returns and the Music Department’s Jazz Ensemble.  The UIV Inter House Dance Competition winners, Airlie, also took part in the performance, as well as four chosen acts from the Autumn Term’s choreography competitions.

Miss Ross is immensely proud of all the girls who took part and made it one of the best productions yet. Special thanks must go to Miss Collins, Miss Lavender and Miss Whittle for their fantastic choreography, to Mr Myles and Mr Pepper-McCudden for their excellent technical assistance, to Jade and Lexi (UVI) for their wonderful compèring and to Mr Leddingham and the Jazz Ensemble for their fantastic pre-show entertainment.
