Wycombe Abbey Sports Awards 2026

Last week, the PE Department were delighted to host Wycombe Abbey’s annual Sports Awards. The event honoured not only excellence in performance, but also participation, teamwork, commitment, leadership and sportsmanship over the course of the academic year.

We were privileged to be joined by Laura Warren, whose career in elite sport highlighted the power of resilience, perseverance and passion. Drawing on personal experience at the highest levels of competition, she spoke compellingly about the challenges and rewards of a life in sport. Her message resonated strongly with pupils, reinforcing the idea that sport equips young people with skills and confidence that extend far beyond the playing field.

Ahead of the event, pupils were nominated across all major sports played at the School, reflecting the inclusive nature of the programme and recognising athletes at different stages of their sporting journeys. Following careful consideration by PE staff and coaches, awards were presented across categories including Player of the Season, Unsung Hero, Most Improved, Outstanding Performance of the Year, Team of the Year and Lifetime Achievement, celebrating not only sporting success but also the dedication, resilience, humility and teamwork that define a positive sporting culture.

The Sports Awards marked a fitting reflection on another exceptional year of sport at Wycombe Abbey. Participation across the School remains impressively high, with teams competing with distinction at local, regional and national levels. Above all, the evening celebrated the strength of the sporting community: the pupils, coaches, officials and staff whose shared commitment makes sport such a vital and enriching part of life at Wycombe Abbey.
