Catherine’s International and National Creative Writing Success
7 May 2026 - All

Catherine (LVI) has recently achieved outstanding success in two prestigious Classics creative writing competitions, receiving recognition at both international and national levels.
Catherine was awarded first place in the 17–18 age category of the International Creative Writing Prize, run by the University of Oxford’s Faculty of Classics in partnership with the Ashmolean Museum. Her winning poem, Mirror, Mirror on the Wall Ball, was selected from a highly competitive field. As part of this achievement, Catherine has been invited by Dr Alison Pollard and Dr Andrew Sillett to attend a special object‑handling session at the Ashmolean Museum in July, offering a unique opportunity to engage closely with classical material culture.
In addition to this success, Catherine was highly commended in the Classical Association’s 2026 Verse and Voice Competition in the Senior Category. The competition received hundreds of entries from across the world, making the recognition particularly impressive. Her poem, A Doorway Dilemma, below, was praised for its creativity and engagement with classical themes.
Warm congratulations to Catherine on these exceptional achievements.
