12km Charity Run
7 May 2026 - All

On the first closed weekend of the Summer Term, a 12km charity run was hosted in support of our School charities, Build On Books and Young Deaf Activities. This marks the second year of the event, following last year’s successful run in aid of Mary’s Meals.
Build On Books is a UK charity that works mainly in Sierra Leone, improving education and living conditions by building schools, providing books and learning resources, and supporting access to clean water. Young Deaf Activities is a local charity that supports deaf young people through social events, trips, and activities where they can communicate freely and feel included. It helps to build confidence and friendships, while also raising awareness of deaf culture and reducing isolation.

The aim was to complete a 12km run, either individually or as part of a group. Some runners took on the full distance themselves, while others shared it between friends. In the lead-up to the event, participants gathered sponsorship from family and friends, turning their efforts into valuable support for the charities. Throughout the afternoon, runners completed laps around the School, keeping track of their distance and encouraging each other as they worked towards the12km goal. An excellent total of £1,235 was raised for the two charities.
Thank you to all the pupils and staff who took part and made the event happen. A special mention goes to Alice (UIV), who finished first in the 12km run. With strong participation again this year, it is hoped that the charity run will continue to take place in the years ahead.
