Wycombe Abbey Team Awarded Runner-up at Tycoon Enterprise Awards

Tycoon is a unique national enterprise competition open to pupils aged 6 to 18 years. Teams create a business plan, receive a loan to launch and run their business, and compete with peers on a kickstarter-style platform in a secure and supervised setting. The Peter Jones Foundation offers start-up funding, which is repaid only once the businesses break even.

On 14 November, our Enterprise Team, Bag-ette, comprised of Bea, Ahana, Maria, and myself, had the privilege of attending the finalists’ award ceremony for Tycoon. The event provided us with a platform to present our business, showcase our stand, and deliver a pitch to Peter Jones himself.

Maria, Bea, Cara and Ahana stood behind a display of their sustainable pouches, smiling proudly.

Our business produces customisable and sustainable pouches designed to serve a variety of purposes, from pencil cases to cosmetic bags. Over the course of our trading period, we successfully sold more than 100 pouches, reaching customers in the UK as well as internationally. We donated 20% of our profits to the Peter Jones Foundation to support their goal of empowering young people through this competition.

We were delighted that Bag-ette was awarded runner-up in our age category in the competition. This achievement would not have been possible without the guidance and encouragement of Mrs Kiln, and the support of Miss Ley, who accompanied us on the day.
