Lilibet Takes to the Mic for Radio 4 Comedy

Lilibet and her brother stood either side of Bill Bailey.

Lilibet (UIII) has recently played the role of Lucy Loo in series two of BBC Radio 4 comedy  Hennikay, starring Bill Bailey. In series two, Bill Bailey will return as Guy Starling, a man whose life is unexpectedly turned upside down by someone he hasn’t seen for 45 years – his imaginary childhood friend, Hennikay.

See what Lilibet had to say about the experience below.

How did you land the role?

My brother had answered an open casting opportunity and was told off the back of that experience that he should find an agent to represent him. I also asked if I could audition for the Sylvia Young Agency and was accepted at the same time. Both my brother and I did a self-tape for Hennikay and Liz Anstee (the Director for the series) chose us both to be involved.

How did you find the experience?

Although I had auditioned for other roles before, this was the first role I got. I was a little bit nervous but mostly excited! It took two days to record my part and it was cool to meet Bill Bailey, he is just as funny in real life as he is on the TV. It was also fun to see the inside of the recording studio, it was much smaller than I expected.

What are your acting plans for the future?

I’m still a part of the Sylvia Young Agency and I look forward to the possibility of having auditions in the next couple of months. I plan to continue with my LAMDA lessons at School, which will help prepare me for future roles. Although I enjoyed voice acting, I would really like to land some screen-acting roles, and I feel as if this experience has helped prepare me for that.

Lilibet’s love of acting shines through. Mrs Sally Harbour, Head of Lower School said ‘I am delighted that Lilibet had the opportunity to take part in this show, she is so passionate about drama’.

Ms Christina Jones, Teacher of Drama, explains ‘We are delighted that Lilibet has enjoyed her first experience in the world of professional acting! This is a very exciting step for her and we are sure that there are many more fantastic opportunities coming her way. We can’t wait to see what she does next!’

The series will air from 16 December – 20 January and will be available on BBC Sounds. Listen out for Lilibet in episode four which will air 6 January at 2:15pm.
