Wycombe Abbey Senior, Dame Sue Carr, named as the new Lord Chief Justice for England and Wales

We are delighted to hear that Wycombe Abbey Senior Dame Sue Carr has been appointed as the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales – the first woman ever to hold the position.

Headmistress, Mrs Jo Duncan said, ‘This is an historic moment and an impressive achievement. We warmly congratulate Sue and wish her every success!’

Dame Sue Carr attended Wycombe Abbey and was a member of Barry House. With an illustrious career in Law, she was appointed to the Court of Appeal of England and Wales in 2019. Sue has been, and still is, a very engaged member of the Wycombe Abbey community, giving her time to mentor Sixth Form pupils as part of our Carrington Mentor Programme and also serving as a Governing Council Member for 13 years.

In 2020, Dame Sue Carr sat down with our Seniors’ Office for an interview that was featured in our Seniors’ Supplement magazine that year.
