Wycombe Abbey Recognised Once Again in Tatler Schools Guide 2027

We’re delighted to see Wycombe Abbey featured once again in the Tatler Schools Guide 2027, celebrating the UK’s leading independent schools.
The guide highlights our exceptional academics, extensive co-curricular programme and strong sense of community, praising everything from our global outlook and outreach initiatives to large-scale musical performances and sporting opportunities.

“Wycombe Abbey is zealous in its drive for excellence, but it exercises its zeal with care. Academic standards are high, evident from the fact that one in five leavers received Oxbridge offers this year, but there’s equal attention paid to how pupils are supported in attaining their stellar results.
The much-used word ‘community’ feels justified here, with girls known, encouraged and, most importantly, listened to. Their horizons are broadened, too: a newly appointed director of global links is strengthening partnerships with schools in Australia and the US through exchanges and trips, from Connecticut to Sydney, while expeditions to Iceland and the Peruvian Amazon are also on the itinerary.
Closer to home, Sixth Formers lead a primary enrichment programme, teaching local Year 5 pupils and in the process developing their own self-assurance and sense of responsibility.
As for the co-curricular programme, it’s extensive. Music is a particular strength, with more than 630 individual lessons each week and large-scale performances that range from formal concerts to the school’s own ‘GlastonAbbey’ festival.
Sports continue to develop, supported by enhanced strength and conditioning programmes. But here come the weekends: Saturdays feel full but not exhausting, embracing anything from craft clubs to theatre trips, while Sundays offer a reflective pause during chapel Evensong.
Underlying all this is a real sense of social responsibility, whether through house-led initiatives or more substantial projects.”
