Wycombe Abbey Pupil Wins Top Girl Trophy at UK Chess Challenge.

We are delighted to share the recent success of UIV pupil, Avyanna, at the UK Chess Challenge ‘Challengers’ tournament, held last weekend.

Since being established in 1996, the UK Chess Challenge has grown into one of the largest junior chess tournaments in the world, offering young players a prestigious platform to showcase their talent.

In the highly competitive U14 category featuring approximately 40 skilled players, Avyanna demonstrated remarkable talent and composure throughout the demanding tournament. Though she narrowly missed qualifying for the Terafinals, she delivered an exceptional performance, finishing as the top girl in her category and proudly bringing home the Top Girl Trophy.

Avyanna’s success at the UK Chess Challenge is a reflection not only of her talent, but also of her dedication and passion for the game. Balancing her academic commitments with her love of chess highlights her discipline, strategic mindset and resilience – qualities that shone through during the tournament. Her achievement is a wonderful example of the excellence and ambition we nurture at Wycombe Abbey.

Congratulations, Avyanna, we look forward to seeing where your chess journey takes you next!
