A Level Results 2020

2020 has been a challenging year for everyone, not least for those Upper Sixth and Upper Fifth (Year 11) pupils who were due to sit public examinations in the Summer Term. Instead, the opportunity to prove themselves in the normal way has been replaced with a system which takes into account teacher assessment (Centre Assessed Grades) and the much discussed process of standardisation. This year, Wycombe Abbey girls achieved 38.2% of grades at A*, with 80.7% of results graded at A*-A.

While many Upper Sixth girls at Wycombe Abbey have achieved excellent grades which they feel are a fair reflection of their hard work throughout their Sixth Form years, the situation is one of ongoing frustration and upset for others, both here and across the country, following Ofqual’s standardisation of Centre Assessed Grades (CAGs) and the School will continue to work with them to support them.

Headmistress, Jo Duncan, said: ‘Wycombe Abbey is very proud of all of this year’s leavers, not just for the results that they have achieved but for the resilience, determination and positive attitude that they have shown throughout a very difficult year.’
