Sporting Success for Wycombe Abbey Athletes

We have news to share of recent sporting successes from our riders, sailors and swimmers.

Allegra (LVI) and her horse Eddie, had an exciting and challenging experience at the 2* Short in Devon over October Long Leave. The event took place over three days, with dressage, show jumping and cross country taking place. This competition was an open age class and Allegra was one of the few U18 competitors to take part. Due to heavy rainfall, the cross-country course was particularly challenging, however, Allegra and Eddie rose to the challenge. Allegra competed in a tough competition of nearly 60 competitors, including an Olympian and she finished in an outstanding 7th position. This is a testament to Allegra and Eddie’s partnership and training. Eddie is now enjoying a well-deserved break in his paddock at home, recharging for next season. Congratulations to Allegra and Eddie on their success in the competition!

Pippa (UIV) has recently returned from representing Great Britain in the Optimist Class at the Asian and Oceania Championships in Abu Dhabi. The field consisted of 180 competitors from 27 countries and after the first three days competitors were streamed into gold, silver and bronze bands based on their results. Pippa sailed brilliantly to make the Gold band, one of the top 52 boats in the competition. Her results placed her 1st out of the female GBR sailors and 3rd in the overall GBR team. A fabulous result for Pippa!

Annabelle (UV) is going from strength to strength in the pool. At the recent South East Winter Regionals in Winchester, she won the Women’s 100m freestyle, came 2nd in the Junior 100m backstroke and came 3rd in the Junior 50m Fly. Annabelle is maintaining her strong form and we are excited to see where these results take her in the future.
