Reconnecting with Old Friends
24 June 2024 - All

On Saturday 8 June, we were joined by Seniors, Wycombe Abbey staff, past and present, and pupils for our annual Seniors’ Day.
With the beautiful Abbey in the background, guests had plenty of opportunities throughout the day to reconnect with old friends, sharing memories from their school days, such as the break buns, having to walk up to Daws Hill with a buddy and where Pitt and Rubens were situated in the Abbey before they moved up the hill. It was also wonderful to see former staff, who talked about their time working at the School and who were able to enjoy the company of pupils they once taught.
But Seniors’ Day is not just about the past. Guests could tour the School and see how it has changed over the years (the new golf simulator being a highlight for many!) and hear from the Headmistress, Jo Duncan, about the School’s plans to continue offering a world class education.
It was a pleasure to have the new Head Girl Team in attendance this year to offer an insight into current School life and four pupils who are daughters of Seniors, including Charlotte (LIV), a fourth-generation pupil. Of her experience at Seniors’ Day, Charlotte said, ‘It was wonderful to meet Seniors who had previously come to the school and to learn about their own experiences of Wycombe Abbey. It was amazing to hear about their memories of being here and their lives since.’

The Class of 2004 celebrated their 20th reunion with a special reception before the celebration continued in London, where others who were unable to attend Seniors’ Day joined them. Tracy Bjelland (C235, Campbell, 2004), who organised the gathering, said, ‘Thank you so much for a wonderful Senior’s Day! It was such a lovely occasion, and you made it so special for my year, which was much appreciated! The teddies and the cupcakes were a fun touch too!’
