Pupils Reflect on Wycombe Abbey’s Primary Enrichment Programme

Dorian, Daphne and Fariha stood in front of a red wall.

As part of our ongoing commitment to local partnerships, several LVI pupils have been taking part in Wycombe Abbey’s Primary Enrichment Programme this term. Each week, they plan and deliver their own lessons to pupils from nearby primary schools, covering a range of creative and engaging topics, from science experiments to maths quizzes and even an introduction to Classics.

This initiative provides a unique opportunity for our pupils to develop confidence, leadership, and communication skills, while also gaining hands-on teaching experience. More importantly, it allows them to make a meaningful contribution to the local community and inspire a love of learning in younger pupils.

Here’s what some of our Sixth Formers had to say about their experience so far:

‘It was heart-warming to see the pupils so engaged. I’m looking forward to learning more about how younger children learn and watching them progress.’-Abila

‘I found myself missing something on Sundays, and now this experience has filled that gap. My weekends feel so much more rewarding!’-Daphne

‘It wasn’t long ago that we were in primary school ourselves, so I find it easy to relate to the pupils. I really wanted to get involved with Wycombe Abbey’s partnership work, this felt like the perfect fit.’-Dorian

‘I loved Classics as a subject and wanted to share that passion. For many of these pupils, it’s their first experience of the subject, it’s amazing to be the one introducing it to them.’ -Fariha

‘I love working with younger children and I love Science, so this programme lets me combine two of my passions. The first session was so much fun, the pupils were really eager, and one even raised her hand just to tell me how much she loved my Crocs!’-Tess

‘Giving back to the Wycombe Abbey community means a lot to me. The children are such fun, last session they loved using a buzzer in our maths quiz. I’m excited to keep building those bonds.’-Melody
