Law Society Gain Top Oxford University Tips from Wycombe Abbey Senior.

At Wycombe Abbey, pupils can join more than fifty societies and clubs, each offering a space for curiosity as well as providing leadership opportunities. Among the most dynamic of these is the Law Society, led by Co‑Presidents Annika and Catherine.
This term, the Society launched a new podcast series designed and produced entirely by pupils. Their most recent episode features Natasha (Airlie, 2025), a Wycombe Abbey Senior now in her first year studying Law at Regent’s Park College, Oxford. Speaking candidly, she offers listeners an unvarnished look at the transition from Sixth Form to life inside one of the world’s most demanding law faculties.
She credits Wycombe Abbey with giving her a distinct advantage, rooted in habits formed well before university. Wide reading and self-directed research, particularly in subjects such as English where she was already engaging with numerous articles, proved directly transferable to the demands of a law degree. This early immersion helped her adapt swiftly to Oxford’s dense reading lists, while the disciplined culture of using free periods productively fostered both academic stamina and self-management, qualities essential at that level. The episode also addresses the realities of the LNAT and Oxford interviews, with Natasha reflecting on how Wycombe Abbey prepared her for these challenges.
Additionally, the boarding environment, she notes, provided a natural preparation for Oxford’s collegiate structure: ‘Both give you a foundation of friends and a support network. You’re never navigating it alone.’
Annika and Catherine describe the Society’s work as, ‘a way of making law feel real and reachable,’ and the latest episode reflects that intention. With its straightforward approach and practical insight, it opens up the legal world and offers a clear, grounded sense of what pursuing law can involve.
