ESSA Secondary Schools Finals Success for Wycombe Abbey Swimmers!

Our Junior Relay Team qualified this year for the ESSA finals for the first time. To qualify for the finals, ESSA takes the top 24 teams in the country based on times from previous events. We were thrilled to have been selected and this is testament to the hard work of the girls during the season.

The event, hosted in the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Pool, was really inspiring. The girls progressed through the heats to the final where they competed against eight teams. We were delighted to place 6th and 4th in the country in the 4x50m Freestyle and 4x50m Medley Relays respectively.

The team was captained by Summer (LIV) and she did an incredible job motivating the team. Special mentions also go to Madeleine (UIII) for dipping under the 28-second mark in her Freestyle leg of the Medley final and to Isabella (UIII) for a personal best in her 50m Breaststroke leg.

The swimming programme at Wycombe Abbey is growing in numbers this term, and it is fantastic that the results and depth of the squad is beginning to reflect the hard work which the pupils are putting in in the pool each week. A huge well done to the team, and best of luck for the rest of the season!
