Charity Prefects Launch New School Charities

Last term, eight pupils and staff members delivered inspiring pitches, after which our School community voted to support Young Deaf Activities (YDA) and Build on Books as our official charities for the next two years.

YDA, based in Buckinghamshire, empowers deaf and deafblind children through youth clubs, holiday events, and family support. They offer British Sign Language lessons and home communication guidance, helping young people build confidence and forge connections in a welcoming environment.

Working in Sierra Leone, Build on Books works to tackle poverty by strengthening education. The charity build classrooms and libraries, provides clean water, and equips schools with books, furniture, and science materials – all driven by local volunteers who know their communities best.

From Bonfire Night fundraising to bake sales, every pound we raise will help fund these incredible causes. Whether it’s supporting a deaf child’s first sign language lesson or filling the bookshelves of a rural school, your generosity will make a real difference.

Let’s make this a year of impact, compassion, and community spirit. Keep an eye out for upcoming events – and thank you for helping us turn sparks of kindness into lasting change!
