A few weeks ago, I travelled to Dubai with my dad and brother to play for the U15 Girls’ Development Team for the Desert Vipers in the R66t Cup. The tournament brings together school and academy teams from around the world, for players aged between U13 and U17.

Our week began with an evening nets session to warm up, followed by a barbecue where I met my teammates, everyone was so friendly! Our team was managed by Chaya Mughal, the former captain of the UAE national team.

The next day, we headed to the Sevens Stadium for our first match against North Jersey Cricket Academy from the USA, which we won. We then faced the South Island Girls’ team, winning again before returning to the hotel exhausted. Our third match, against Oman Cricket Academy, was much tougher, but we fought hard and won. After topping our group, we reached the finals – once again against the South Island Girls – and came out on top, winning the U15 Girls’ category!

It was an unforgettable experience (even playing in 40-degree heat for four hours) and I was so proud to be part of it.
