Bonfire Night 2024

Wycombe Abbey’s Bonfire Night 2024 was truly a night to remember, attracting over 2,000 ticket bookings—making it the largest Bonfire Night event in the School’s history! The evening was filled with excitement, laughter, and a palpable sense of community as pupils, parents, staff, and their families gathered to celebrate in grand style.

As always, the traditional LIV Guys competition was an exciting pupil highlight in the build-up to the event. After a rigorous judging process, Rubens House emerged as the winners with their Barbie house Guy, followed by Barry House in second place with their Stitch Guy, and Pitt House in third with their race car Guy. The friendly competition added to the fun and excitement, contributing to the overall success of the event.

A vibrant selection of pupil-run charity stalls was on display to keep everyone entertained as they awaited the fireworks. These stalls raised over £5000 split between a number of worthwhile causes, including Mary’s Meals and the Wycombe Refugee Partnership.  Special congratulations go to Barry House, who raised just over £2,000—an outstanding achievement. The success of the stalls and fundraising efforts is a testament to the generosity and enthusiasm of the Wycombe Abbey community.

Attendees were also treated to a variety of local food vendors, offering everything from burritos to churros to hotdogs, ensuring that there was something to delight every taste.

The fireworks display was the crowning moment of the evening. It was heartwarming to see so many people gathered together to watch the fireworks light up the sky in a dazzling array of colours.

Many thanks to all staff who helped make the night such a success. From the Grounds staff, who spent the past few weeks preparing the site, to the Custodians, ensuring the smooth entrance and exit of over 2,000 attendees, as well as the Domestic staff, who took care of the big clean-up afterwards, everyone played a vital role in making the event run seamlessly. Special thanks to Mrs Little for ensuring that this year’s event was one for the history books.

Here’s to Bonfire Night 2025!
