A Look Back at Weekend Activities This Term

Tents in front of the Abbey.

Here at Wycombe Abbey, we are committed to delivering a varied and enriching weekend activities programme. This term, weekend activities have included a camp out, more socials with other local schools, and even puppy yoga! To see how our pupils got on, read below.

Lower School Camp Out

Pupils playing rounders during sunset.

A few weekends ago, UIII and LIV were treated to a hot and sunny camp out on the School grounds. Girls appeared from houses carrying bags of entertainment for the evening as they rushed to select their tent for the night. Fairy lights were hung up, sleeping areas set up and board games laid out ready for the evening. UIII enjoyed the giant Jenga and swing ball whilst the LIV ran around the fields together.

There was an intense UIII vs LIV rounders match taking place as the sun was setting, creating a beautiful background for our campsite. The girls were treated to hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows to top off the evening, before getting ready for bed and heading into tents. The excitement of sharing tents was apparent as torches were switched on and whispers could be heard from many tents late into the night!

In a few weeks’ time, we will be doing it all again with the Upper School who are also very keen to sleep under the stars!

Lower School Social with Davenies

Pupils playing tennis on the tennis courts.

Two weeks ago, our UIII and LIV pupils enjoyed a fantastic day of sport, sunshine, and socialising with Davenies pupils. The UIII’s kicked off the day with an energetic rounders match, mixing boys and girls evenly into teams. Meanwhile, the LIVs engaged in various tennis matches on our astroturf. Midway through the day, the groups swapped activities, giving everyone the chance to enjoy both sports. The pupils cheered one another on and made the most of the lovely sunny weather. At the end of the social, our wonderful catering team hosted an amazing BBQ out on the pitch. Picnic blankets and deck chairs were laid out and pupils enjoyed the great food, the socialising, and of course a refreshing ice cream to round off the afternoon!

Puppy Yoga

On Sunday, the Sports Centre was filled with laughter and wagging tails as pupils and staff took part in a special puppy yoga session. Across two sessions, ten playful labrador puppies joined us for a relaxing and joy-filled yoga experience. The event was perfectly timed ahead of exam week, providing pupils a chance to take a short revision break and enjoy something a little different. From stretches to snuggles, the puppies brought an extra sense of calm and happiness to the mat, though staying focused on the yoga wasn’t always easy with so many adorable distractions! Both staff and girls thoroughly enjoyed the sessions, reminding us all of the wellbeing benefits of taking a moment to pause, breath, and share a little puppy love. We hope to welcome the puppies back again soon!

LVI Summer Ball with RGS

Pupils dancing at a ball.

Last Friday, the LVI celebrated the end of their exams with the annual Summer Ball. They were joined by pupils from the Royal Grammar School High Wycombe. The pupils were dressed very glamorously as they enjoyed a night of festivities with activities taking place across the School. From dinner and dancing to table tennis, air hockey, mini golf and croquet, there was something for everyone, not to mention the non-stop queue at the photobooth! It was a joy to see the girls take a well-deserved break, to celebrate all they have achieved this year and enjoy the night.
