130 Colour Run
6 October 2026 - Events

During the first closed weekend of the year, the Wycombe Abbey community continued our 130th anniversary celebrations. After the beautiful service at Southwark Cathedral on the Saturday, pupils, staff and families came together on Sunday 13 September for a vibrant and unforgettable colour run.

This event had been a hugely popular feature of our 125th anniversary and its return this year was highly requested by the girls. Miss Hoyle and Miss Tay compered the event with their usual good humour and flair. Thanks must also go to our School and House Sports Captains who, bedecked in fancy dress, led an energetic warm-up which kick-started the dance party atmosphere and got everyone feeling ready to run. The race itself began under a rainbow arch in front of the Abbey, with pupils running, walking, skipping and dancing around our beautiful School grounds whilst being blasted with clouds of paint powder by their teachers and House staff. After the run, pupils were treated to ice-cream and themed cupcakes and a DJ-hosted dance party, with showers of light rain doing little to dampen their spirits. Events like this are important in bringing together our School community, with gratitude going to the wide range of staff who came together to make it possible: the Estates, Grounds and Domestics Teams; the House staff, teachers and Resident Tutors who volunteered their time in a variety of roles; Mr Hams for his sound expertise; Mrs Gee, Mrs Fisher and the rest of the 130 committee for their logistics support.

Overall, the Colour Run was great fun, reflecting the vibrancy and joy of boarding life at Wycombe Abbey as we enter our 131st year!
