Wycombe Abbey Pupil Launches Fundraiser and Book Project to Support Neurodivergent Community

Following the completion of her GCSEs, Evelyn is dedicating her summer to an ambitious project designed to raise awareness of neurodiversity and support neurodivergent people.

Evelyn is raising funds for The Donaldson Trust, a charity that works to help neurodivergent individuals thrive through greater understanding, education and support. Having already raised almost £500, she is now aiming to reach her target of £1,000.

Rather than taking on a traditional sponsored challenge, Evelyn has set herself the task of writing and publishing a book about neurodivergence. Drawing on real-life experiences, educational resources and contributions from the neurodivergent community, the book aims to increase understanding, challenge misconceptions and provide a platform for voices that are not always heard.

The idea is one that is deeply personal to Evelyn, who hopes the project will encourage wider conversations around neurodiversity and promote greater awareness of the experiences of neurodivergent individuals. She says:

‘Neurodiversity is something everyone should understand, whether it affects them personally or not. I want this project to help people learn more about neurodivergence, challenge stereotypes and ensure that neurodivergent voices are heard.’

As part of the project, Evelyn will collect stories from neurodivergent individuals, showcase artwork created by members of the neurodivergent community and share her own experiences. Once completed, the book will be published online as a free PDF, making it accessible to as many readers as possible.

Explaining her decision to support The Donaldson Trust, Evelyn said the charity’s mission aligns closely with the aims of her project: creating greater understanding of neurodiversity and ensuring that neurodivergent people receive the support they need to reach their full potential.

All donations will go directly to The Donaldson Trust, with the book itself being independently created by Evelyn over the summer.

We wish Evelyn every success with her fundraising and look forward to seeing the finished project.
