Work Experience in our Local Community
8 July 2026 - Partnerships

Each year, we are fortunate to work with a number of local partners who support our pupils in facilitating local, weekly work experience opportunities for pupils who are aiming to study Medicine, Veterinary Medicine or Dentistry. This year has been no exception, and our pupils have enjoyed the privilege of building relationships and gaining valuable experience across a wide range of settings in our local community.
Pupils have been out and about across High Wycombe on placements with Growing Hope, Bowerdean Nursery School, Marlow Opportunity Playgroup, Shelburne Lodge Care Home, Ryeview Manor Care Home, Greendale Farm Kennels and Cattery and Wycombe Hospital (via the Bucks NHS Young Volunteers Scheme). They have enjoyed taking part in a wide range of activities: befriending residents in the care homes and joining in with singing, games and activities; finding out all about children’s learning and development in two different early years settings; discovering how Growing Hope supports children with additional needs and their families; experiencing life on the Stroke Ward and finally – for the future Vets – learning about the realities of hands-on animal care at the Kennels.
Pupils often become firm favourites at our host organisations, with children and elderly residents very much looking forward to seeing them each week. The regular visits (starting in November and running through until the Summer Term) enable them to build wonderful relationships and gain much-needed experience, bolstering their soft skills in addition to giving them valuable insights into their future professions.
We would like to thank our work experience partners for continuing to support and encourage our pupils and enabling them to gain valuable experience as they look ahead to university applications in the Autumn Term.
