Mental Health Awareness Week at Wycombe Abbey
16 May 2025 - All

At Wycombe Abbey, we believe that mental health should be at the forefront of everything we do. Supporting emotional wellbeing is a vital part of our School ethos, and we are committed to fostering an environment where both pupils and staff feel valued, supported, and empowered to prioritise their mental health.
After the success of our Children’s Mental Health Awareness week in February, where pupils enjoyed bespoke Mental Health lessons, nature wellness walks with much-loved School therapy dog Bella, and House activities, we decided to mark Mental Health Awareness Week by implementing a variety of staff wellbeing initiatives.
Staff were encouraged to pause and focus on their own wellbeing, including highlights such as a Lunch and Learn session titled How to Look After Yourself, a free 10-minute massage, and therapy sessions with Bella.
In addition, our Random Acts of Kindness scheme is running once again, encouraging staff to anonymously exchange small gifts or notes of appreciation, such as homemade treats and words of affirmation, simple gestures that promote a culture of care and connection.
Wycombe Abbey’s approach to mental health is proactive and holistic. Our dedicated pastoral care team works closely with pupils, offering one-to-one support, counselling services, and workshops on topics such as resilience, self-esteem, and mindfulness. For staff, we promote a healthy work-life balance through wellbeing initiatives, professional support networks, and open-door policies that encourage honest communication.
By embedding mental health awareness into everyday School life, we aim to nurture a compassionate and resilient community, one where wellbeing is not just acknowledged, but truly prioritised.
