The First Closed Weekend of 2025

The first weekend of term is always an exciting one, and this Spring Term was no exception! With a Silent Disco and Societies Sunday, the girls had a fantastic time from start to finish.

The return of the Silent Disco was a resounding success, bringing together pupils from all year groups. With three channels of music to choose from, the headphones changed colour like waves as popular songs started to play. The energy was infectious, with both pupils and staff dancing the night away. A chocolate fountain and an ice cream stand provided plenty of delicious fuel for the evening. ‘It was the most enjoyable disco I’ve ever attended,’ said one pupil, capturing the spirit of the event.

The excitement continued with Societies Sunday, featuring 31 pupil-led sessions catering to a variety of interests. From academically focused societies like Politics, Maths, and Medical, to creative and cultural groups such as Art, Stage Make-up, African, and Modern Languages societies – there was something to inspire everyone!

The younger girls loved seeing the older pupils lead the activities, gaining both inspiration and knowledge. Laura (UIII), was thrilled with the Medical Society’s session, sharing, ‘We learnt how to suture using a piece of fake skin; it was fascinating!’ Alison (UIII) described her excitement about the Green Power activity, exclaiming ‘I got to experience driving a car!’

Chess Society provided a chance to build connections, with Sara (UIII) stating ‘I really enjoyed chatting with girls I didn’t know as well as improving my chess skills’. Drama Society’s stage make-up session was another favourite, where pupils created realistic wounds on themselves. ‘There was such a variety of activities available!’ said Kera (UIII), reflecting on the day.

With such a fun-filled start to the term, the Weekend Activities team is excited to deliver even more engaging and memorable events in the weeks ahead.
