Wycombe Management Conference 2025

Pupils stood on stage pitching their app idea.

Last week, Wycombe Abbey hosted the 34th Wycombe Management Conference with pupils from Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe. Over the course of the two days, the delegates worked together in 28 teams to revive the fortunes of a flagging- fictional- phone company as part of a business simulation. They were asked to design new logos and names for the companies alongside managing their staff wellbeing and profit margins. All teams pitched their own apps solving problems such as where to find a parking space, or where to find clothes from television shows and films. They were rigorously questioned by a panel of judges and answered with clarity on the feasibility and profitability of their prospective apps.

Pupils sat at tables working.

In between each quarter of the simulation, we were delighted to host three speakers who delivered engaging and inspirational lectures on their careers and guidance for our budding entrepreneurs. Peter Higgins, former CEO of Charles Tyrwhitt, and Lord Bilimoria, founder of Cobra Beer and former Chair of the CBI, spoke about the often non-linear paths to success that all companies face, while Helen Steel, founder of Streamlion Consulting, delivered guidance on the importance of soft skills in the workplace. Our teams were also supported throughout the conference by local luminaries, including alumni from both schools, who served as mentors for each business. We were extremely grateful to them for taking the time to support the conference and for the careers guidance they gave to the delegates. The event was a resounding success, we are already looking forward to next year’s Management Conference!
