Wycombe Abbey success at the Haileybury Model United Nations Conference

Our School delegation, representing France, was delighted to be awarded the Distinguished Delegation Award at the Haileybury Model United Nations (MUN) Conference at the end of March.

Wycombe Abbey was one of only three schools to receive the award at the prestigious conference of 600 secondary school pupils held in Hertford.

Two Wycombe Abbey pupils also won the Highly Commended Delegate Awards and three pupils were awarded the title of Distinguished Delegate, an award given to the top delegates in each committee.

The theme of the Conference was ‘Open Mind, Open World’, and delegates debated issues such as ‘The question of the gender pay gap’, ‘The question of combatting radicalisation’, and ‘The question of militarisation of the Arctic’.

Pupils sat on committees representing the views of France, Nigeria and Norway.

At the end of the conference the Wycombe Abbey delegation paid tribute to the Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Dr Goddard for his inspirational leadership of MUN over the past two years.
