Wycombe Abbey MUN Conference 2025

Ava stood behind a Wycombe Abbey lectern.

This January, we proudly hosted the highly anticipated Wycombe Abbey Model United Nations Conference. With over 16 schools in attendance, including from overseas, the event welcomed a total of 250 delegates. The conference featured five dynamic committees, including Human Rights, Economic and Social, Security Council, Arctic Council and the Disarmament and International Security Committee.

We represented UN member states from the UAE, France, China, and Panama. The debates were pertinent with discussions around conflict resolution, the ongoing illegal drug trade, global access to healthcare, and freedom of speech. With an impressive 110 resolutions submitted, it was clear that everyone was deeply engaged in the discussions.

As always, we hosted the Diplomatic Dinner and Highland Ball in Big School, where everyone enthusiastically joined in Scottish reeling. For many, this was the highlight of the conference, swinging each other around and dancing with people they had just met.

On the second day, debates continued in full swing, with many resolutions getting passed, including two from the Security Council, a record for the Wycombe Abbey MUN Conference. The debate certainly became fruitful over the dispute of pineapples, but this was all diffused in friendly discussion and certainly brought committees together with the intention of actively finding solutions. The conference adjourned with a brilliant closing ceremony, where prizes were awarded to outstanding delegates.

Finally, I would like to extend a huge thank you to all the staff who made this conference possible, as well as my incredible Secretariat Team. This was my last one at School and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to take part. We look forward to attending the upcoming Haileybury and Bath MUN conferences.

Remember – MUN is FUN!
