Wycombe Abbey is Named as one of the Top Schools in the UK and Winners of Four School Story Awards

Over the past few weeks, Wycombe Abbey has been named one of the Top 30 UK Independent Schools by Carfax Education, ranked third out of 20 boarding schools in Education Choices Magazine, and won four Interactive Schools School Story Awards for Best Boarding School Story, Best Story in the UK, Best use of Instagram, and Best use of Social Platform as well as highly commended for Best Branded Hashtag Story and Overall Winner.

The sense of community at Wycombe Abbey is important to us and is celebrated on a daily basis at school. We take pride in all aspects of the achievements of girls, staff, parents and Seniors and couldn’t be more delighted with all areas of School life being recognised and praised.

Carfax Index is the leading international guide for parents seeking the best education for their children around the globe. They highlighted our founder, Dame Frances Dove as a pioneering graduate who wanted girls to have an equivalent education to that enjoyed by boys. That pioneering spirit still lives on at Wycombe Abbey and is instilled in the girls from Junior House right through to when they leave School and into their careers beyond. We call this a future focussed education, encouraging curiosity, bold ideas, innovation, leadership and delight in learning.

The Education Choices Magazine list of the Top 20 Boarding Schools 2024 gave particular attention to EDI efforts taking place within the schools, pastoral care, and parental feedback. The needs of the girls at School are central to our full boarding environment, which nurtures pupils to be flexible and creative, think critically and communicate ideas, work alone and in a team, and, importantly, respect themselves and others.

Interactive Schools celebrated school storytelling recently, they say ‘the best stories have the power to unlock the magic in a school, inspiring and captivating those who read them’. Communicating our school stories effectively so all parents (current and prospective), staff, Seniors and others can feel part of the community and understand our values, is hugely important to us. We try to make sure they are engaging, authentic and give a voice to all. Our trio of films won Best Boarding Story. They are pinned to our Instagram grid and highlight what is unique about boarding at Wycombe Abbey in Junior House (Year 7), the Senior Houses (Year 8 – 12) and Clarence House (Year 13). Every girl’s potential, whatever that might be, is explored and fulfilled.
