Wycombe Abbey Bonfire Night 2025

On 5 November, the Wycombe Abbey grounds came alive as family, friends, and pupils gathered for our much-anticipated Bonfire Night. The event was a wonderful opportunity for the School community to come together and enjoy one of the most spectacular traditions of the season and the 2025 event was our biggest yet, with over 2,000 people celebrating together.
Festivities began with the eagerly awaited Guy competition, where LIV pupils showcased their creativity with an array of imaginative designs. This year’s entries were outstanding, but Cloister House led the way with their brilliant Mike from Monsters Inc. Guy, complete with a clever nod to the Headmistress’ favourite book, ‘Mike of Green Gables’, earning them first place. Airlie claimed second with a charming Gruffalo Guy, while Barry and Pitt shared third place with their impressive Megamind and Lego Man creations.
Inside Big School, the atmosphere was vibrant, as visitors explored house charity stalls, offering raffles, face painting and even handmade Christmas decorations, all in support of worthy causes. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we raised an impressive amount for charity, reflecting the spirit of Wycombe Abbey. The total figure raised for our elected charities this year was in excess of £7,250, which is incredibly almost 45% higher than last year’s total.
As darkness fell, everyone assembled outside the Abbey for the highlight of the night, an incredible fireworks display that lit up the sky in a dazzling array of colours. The spectacular show was met with cheers and smiles and provided a breath-taking conclusion to an unforgettable evening.
