Two New Sister Schools for Wycombe Abbey

Wycombe Abbey School Hangzhou

Wycombe Abbey is delighted to welcome two new sister schools to the Wycombe Abbey family of schools. This week Wycombe Abbey International and BE Education opened the two new all-through boarding schools in the cities of Hangzhou and Nanjing in Eastern China. These are the third and fourth Wycombe Abbey schools to be built in the region alongside Wycombe Abbey School Changzhou (for pupils aged 3 to 18 years) and Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong (for pupils aged 5 to 13 years).

In a year of immense challenges for schools around the world, it is a remarkable achievement to have been able to open the beautiful Hangzhou campus on time. Construction of Wycombe Abbey School Nanjing is nearing completion, with some delays due to the pandemic, and it will open physically on 8 October 2021. Online learning has already begun successfully for new pupils of all ages. Nanjing has an ultimate capacity of over 2,000 pupils alongside stunning academic buildings, wonderful extra-curricular facilities and similarly stylish boarding houses. Its Chinese Cultural Centre is an impressive illustration of the commitment that pupils at Wycombe Abbey School Nanjing will be strongly rooted in their Chinese heritage as well as having a truly international mindset. As in Changzhou, pupils at Hangzhou and Nanjing will work towards IGCSEs and A levels, and study at a variety of universities overseas.

All four schools in China share the values of Wycombe Abbey in the UK, focusing on academic rigour and the immense benefits of a broad and varied extra-curricular programme, while cultivating character, creativity, empathy and service.
