Wycombe Abbey’s Values

Wycombe Abbey grounds

Built on more than 125 years of experience in educating young women, Dame Frances Dove’s pioneering spirit and values remain as important to us as they did to her in 1896. Wycombe Abbey’s values are the principles that guide the way we interact with each other in the wider community and at School; they are especially important in a boarding community like ours.

Most organisations, including schools, have a stated set of values, however, these statements need to be more than simply words. Every person connected to the School must know and uphold the values in their daily interactions if they are to contribute to a culture that helps to grow and develop our staff and pupils and to fulfil our aims.

Our values stem from the character of our founder; they reflect our identity today and are central to our ethos, the environment in which we live and work and to our decision-making. Our values are: Trust, Encouragement, Mutual Respect, Excellence, Innovation, Dynamism, Balance and Service.

In the Communications Office, we have been working on ways to share our values so they are known by pupils and staff. We have produced a poster which is displayed on notice boards around the school; in classrooms, offices and in Houses.

If you work for an organisation that you feel effectively communicates its values please do get in touch we would love to hear from you.
