Salamanca Immersion Trip 2025.

During Long Leave, Sixth Form Spanish students enjoyed an unforgettable cultural and linguistic immersion in Spain. From exploring historic cities to practising their language skills in real-life settings, the trip offered a unique opportunity to experience Spanish life first-hand. Mati, LVI, shares what they got up to while away:

‘We began with a day in Madrid, which allowed us to soak in the vibrant energy of the capital, before a visit the following day to the historic city of Segovia. Known for its stunning Roman aqueduct and ancient tales, it truly felt like walking through a Medieval village.

The heart of our adventure, however, was in Salamanca; a renowned university city where we stayed with Spanish host families. This homestay experience offered us a unique opportunity to engage with local customs and practice our Spanish in everyday settings, making the trip both educational and deeply personal.

Each morning, we attended language classes with Lola Languages, which not only reinforced our A-level studies but also expanded our understanding of Spanish culture and communication. Outside the classroom, we embraced the local lifestyle by sampling traditional dishes, learning flamenco dancing with a professional, and exploring the city’s rich history and lively streets. Walking through Salamanca felt like stepping into student life ourselves, surrounded by the buzz of university life.

The experience was both enriching and inspiring, giving us a taste of independence and a deeper appreciation for the Spanish language and way of life. Mr Fuentes and Miss Hamilton, who accompanied us on the trip, made the experience unforgettable and we cannot thank them enough for the support and care they provided us.’
