New Wycombe Abbey School in Egypt

Wycombe Abbey International (WAI), the international arm of the School, was established in 2016 to develop Wycombe Abbey schools internationally and was initially focussed on operations in China. The School has recently signed an agreement with a new partner in Egypt, to set up high-quality international schools in the MENA region under the Wycombe Abbey International brand.
This first school from this partnership will open in Egypt in 2024 in the Diplomatic District of the New Capital City, an ambitious new city development just outside of Cairo. The school will be co-educational and initially teach at primary level and eventually all through from Kindergarten to Year 12. The school will follow an international curriculum underpinned by Wycombe Abbey’s values and academic qualities.
The opening of new Wycombe Abbey schools will allow more pupils to access the kind of education set out by our founder, Dame Frances Dove, and will also provide invaluable opportunities for our staff to undertake exchange visits seeking to understand different educational settings. We are absolutely committed to the provision of a holistic education with a particular focus on academic excellence at our international schools and the opportunity this affords children to go on to some of the best universities in the world.
Partnerships such as this are key to the success WAI has had to date in developing our four outstanding international schools in Greater China and Hong Kong. Our international schools partners work closely with the relevant authorities to implement local requirements in their teaching and learning, without compromising Wycombe Abbey’s fundamental values. We monitor the quality standards and successes at our international schools through engagement with the Wycombe Abbey International board.
This exciting new partnership will also help generate additional income for the school in the UK, which is committed to supporting additional bursaries and capital investment towards our Estates Masterplan.
A launch event was held in Cairo on 11 October to announce the new partnership and the establishment of a new school – Wycombe Abbey International Cairo East, which is planned to open in September 2024.
