New Director of Development Appointed

We are delighted to announce that Ms Robin Sharp has been appointed to the post of Director of Development at Wycombe Abbey and will lead the Development and Seniors’ Office, overseeing our fundraising and alumnae engagement activities in line with Wycombe Abbey’s values and strategic direction.

Robin is an alumna of the Emma Willard School, Denison University, and George Washington University. She was also awarded an MA from the University of Oxford. Robin is a Trustee of the The Institute of Development Professionals in Education (IDPE) and has worked in independent school and university philanthropy for almost 25 years. She began her development career at the Madeira School, a girls’ day and boarding school in the Washington DC area. After almost 20 years working in higher education, she previously held fundraising leadership positions at Trinity College Cambridge, Brasenose College Oxford, University of Southampton, Queen Mary University of London and the University of Aberdeen. Robin returned to the independent school sector in 2022 as Director of Development at Bradford Grammar School.

Robin is delighted to once again be part of a boarding community dedicated to the education of young women, ‘Coming on to campus feels a bit like returning home. My experience at a girls’ boarding school was the making of me. The friends that I made during that time remain my chosen sisters. Being invited to join the Wycombe Abbey community is a privilege, one that I fully appreciate at this point in my life and career. I am absolutely thrilled to be joining this happy and close-knit community that not only focuses on academic achievement but also ensures that young women flourish in their friendships and grow confident with all the many opportunities offered both in and outside the classroom.’
