Local Work Experience for Wycombe Abbey Medics

The Careers team is delighted to announce that a number of local work experience partnerships have been established for 21 Lower Sixth pupils hoping to study medicine at university.

Whilst a number of virtual opportunities have been available over the past year, there is no substitute for face-to-face experience, allowing pupils to gain valuable insights into a variety of different needs and situations. We are very pleased to have established (or re-established in some cases) local partnerships with Ryeview Manor care home, Shelburne Lodge care home, Chiltern Wood School and Marlow Opportunity Playgroup. These local organisations have kindly agreed to open their doors to a number of Wycombe Abbey pupils over the Spring and potentially Summer Terms. Pupils have applied for the various positions available and made a commitment to attend their placements on a regular, weekly basis for at least one term. This will give them the benefit of establishing excellent working relationships with the staff and gaining insights into working with people at various different stages in their lives and managing a variety of different needs.

We look forward to hearing all about how they get on and would welcome any other local organisations who would be interested in joining our work experience programme to get in touch.
