Flaine Ski Trip
7 February 2025 - All

Our adventure began with a refreshing 3 AM start as we made our way to Heathrow. After flying through security, we grabbed some snacks and headed to our gate, ready to board our flight to Geneva. The flight passed quickly, and once we landed, we collected our bags and hopped on the bus to the hotel.
The next day, we hit the slopes with our fantastic instructors, Hervé and Adrien. Everyone was eager to ski in the great conditions, and we kicked off with some giant slalom training to prepare for the upcoming races. After a delicious lunch at the Bistro, we finished the day with parallel practice before heading back to the hotel to rest.

We started our second day of training feeling more confident and determined to give it our all! In the morning, we focused on final preparations for the parallel races. In the afternoon, the A team, consisting of Izzy H (LIV), Alix (LIV), and Elizabeth (LIV), won their first race against Downe House and narrowly missed out against Wellington College. They performed brilliantly, finishing as the second-best unregistered team in the A parallel races!
The next morning, despite the rainy conditions and the cancellation of the B parallel races, we pushed through and achieved some incredible results in the slalom! Alix finished as the second-best unregistered racer in the U14 category, and Elizabeth placed third-best unregistered racer in the U16 category! Although we ended the day soaked, with drenched kit and bags, it was a hugely successful and unforgettable experience.

On day five, another early start saw us heading up the mountain for our giant slalom races. After inspecting the course, we set off for our first run. A special congratulations to Alix, who placed 1st in the unregistered U14 category. Although parallel races in the afternoon were unfortunately cancelled, we made the most of the day by skiing in fresh powder with our instructors.
At the evening prize-giving, our team celebrated fantastic results! The A team placed 2nd in the unregistered giant slalom race, 3rd in the unregistered slalom race, and overall, the best unregistered team. It was an incredible way to wrap up the competition!
To end the trip, we enjoyed an amazing lunch at a local crêpe restaurant before heading home. A huge thank you to Mr Greenall, Miss Smith, and Mr Cadman for making this trip such a special and unforgettable experience for all of us!
