Cambridge Roentgenium Award Reception

On 21 November Justine (UVI) was invited to attend an award reception for Cambridge Chemistry Challenge Roentgenium winners. It was held at the magnificent Goldsmiths’ Hall in London. Before the reception day, all pupils were offered the chance to give a short 4 minute talk on any element of their choice. Justine chose to talk about helium because of its many intriguing properties such as the ability to exist as a superfluid.

During the award presentation, winners were presented with trophies of atomic orbitals modelled in glass – a 2p orbital for the school and a 2s orbital for themselves. Justine enjoyed the experience very much and would highly recommend that the LVI chemists give the competition a go – there’s nothing to lose and you never know what you could win!
