Preparing Pupils for Careers in an AI‑Driven World
12 May 2026 - Academic

Generative and agentic AI are rapidly reshaping the world of work, transforming job roles and redefining the skills young people will need for future careers. As demand for AI‑literate employees accelerates, those who can adapt quickly and build relevant digital capabilities are increasingly well placed to succeed.
At Wycombe Abbey, preparing pupils for this changing landscape is a core part of our Futures programme. As part of this, we were delighted to welcome Ideja Bajra to speak to all LV pupils during their weekly wellbeing session.
Ideja shared her personal journey into the world of AI, demonstrating how curiosity and a willingness to embrace new technology can open unexpected career pathways. While completing her degree in Cell Biology at the University of St Andrews, Ideja became fascinated by the potential of generative AI following the launch of ChatGPT. During her internship year in Paris, she deepened her understanding of AI in professional settings, eventually securing an accelerator award to establish her own company.

During her talk, Ideja highlighted the importance of critical thinking, adaptability and decision‑making, and encouraged pupils to view AI as a learning partner that can support experimentation and growth. She also addressed concerns around AI replacing jobs, explaining that while roles will evolve, new opportunities will continue to emerge for those able to combine human skills with technological understanding.
As Wycombe Abbey continues to develop its focus on digital skills, experiences such as this ensure pupils feel confident, informed and prepared to embrace, rather than fear, the changing world of work.
