Regular Decision Applications to US Universities
22 April 2026 - All

Following Wycombe Abbey’s reporting of UVI pupils’ outstanding success in the early rounds of US university applications, where admissions rates at many institutions are already highly selective, I am delighted to share that this momentum has continued through the Regular Decision round. Our pupils have received an exceptional set of offers, marking the strongest US results in Wycombe Abbey’s history.
Across 16 applicants, pupils have secured 44 Regular Decision offers from leading universities throughout the United States. This achievement is particularly significant given that Regular Decision typically attracts the largest and most competitive applicant pools, with universities offering a limited number of remaining places following the early rounds. Between both early and regular rounds, one in three applicants secured offers from Ivy League universities, representing seven of the eight institutions, a remarkable achievement in the context of acceptance rates that sit in the low single digits.
In addition to the fantastic suite of offers already reported, pupils have been offered further places at a wide range of highly competitive and globally recognised universities in this latest round of applications, including:
- Colby College
- Columbia University (3 offers)
- Cornell University
- Duke University
- Georgetown University
- Harvard University (2 offers)
- Howard University
- Johns Hopkins University
- New York University
- Rice University
- Stanford University
- Syracuse University
- The California State University system (20 offers)
- The University of Pennsylvania
- The University of Southern California
- The University of Virginia
- Tufts University
This continued success highlights our pupils’ growth mindsets, their ability to thrive in intellectually rigorous environments, and their eagerness to embrace new challenges in pursuit of making a meaningful impact, both within their local communities and across the wider world. Their applications have clearly resonated with leading US universities who value holistic admissions and place an emphasises on intellectual curiosity, leadership, and a demonstrated commitment to making an impact, qualities that Wycombe Abbey pupils consistently show both in and outside of the classroom and has resulted in a wonderful array of offers.
In addition to these outstanding acceptances, pupils have been awarded generous scholarships ranging from $22,000 to $55,000, further recognising their academic excellence and personal achievements.
Pupils holding offers to study in the United States typically have until 1 May to confirm whether they will accept a place or pursue an alternative pathway. To date, ten pupils have confirmed their intention to enrol at US universities, with more decisions expected in the coming weeks.
Although our UVI pupils now face the unenviable task of choosing between exceptional opportunities, we could not be prouder of all that they have accomplished so far. We look forward with great excitement to seeing everything they will achieve at their universities of choice and beyond.
