14 January 2026 - All

The New Year has begun with a series of sporting triumphs for Wycombe Abbey pupils, showcasing excellence across swimming, skiing and cross country.
Over the Christmas break, Annabelle (UVI) delivered an extraordinary performance at the Swim England Winter Championships, securing five Junior medals. Her medal tally included bronze in the 50m freestyle and four golds in the 50m backstroke, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, and 400m freestyle. Annabelle now turns her attention to the County Championships this Saturday, where she will contest the 400m freestyle. We wish her every success as she continues to build on this impressive momentum.
Meanwhile, on the slopes, Athena (UIII) demonstrated exceptional prowess during a week of ski racing, competing in six Ambition Races and one Dutch Race. Her performance was outstanding, yielding six gold medals and one silver. Athena is a dedicated member of Wycombe Abbey’s ski team, which trains rigorously each Sunday, and she will soon represent the School at the prestigious British Schoolgirls’ Races 2026.

Completing this trio of success stories, Aura (LIV) delivered a commanding performance at the Buckinghamshire AA Cross Country Championships last weekend. This event serves as a critical qualifier for the U13 National Cross Country Championships, and Aura rose to the occasion, finishing in the top four and earning automatic selection to represent Buckinghamshire at Nationals in Nottingham this March. Competing for Chiltern Harriers, Aura also contributed to her club’s gold medal for best overall performance.

These achievements reflect Wycombe Abbey’s strong commitment to supporting girls’ sport both within and beyond the School, enabling pupils to pursue their ambitions at every level. Congratulations to Annabelle, Athena, and Aura on your wonderful achievements. You have all have set an inspiring tone for 2026, and we look forward to celebrating further successes as the year unfolds.
