Wycombe Abbey Pupils Gain Insight into Global Law at Ashurst Headquarters.

Just before Christmas, four Wycombe Abbey pupils had the opportunity to visit the London headquarters of Ashurst, one of the world’s leading international law firms. The visit offered a rare opportunity to experience the inner workings of a global legal practice and to engage directly with professionals at different stages of their careers.

The day began with a tour of Ashurst’s offices, providing a glimpse into the collaborative environment that underpins complex, cross-border legal work. This was followed by an insightful session with three trainees, who spoke candidly about their routes into law, the realities of securing a training contract and the intellectual and practical demands of life at a global firm.

The programme continued with a talk from a partner and two pro bono coordinators, who explored the critical role of pro bono work alongside corporate practice. Far from being a peripheral activity, pro bono was presented as a core expression of professional responsibility, reinforcing the idea that law serves not only commercial interests but also broader societal needs.

A big thank you to Ashurst for their generosity and commitment to supporting future talent. This experience offered an invaluable insight into corporate law and the culture of a leading international firm, equipping pupils with knowledge that will inform their aspirations and future choices.
