Parenting the Teenager: A Talk with Mrs Sophie Blunt on Online Safety.
16 October 2025 - All

With online safety becoming increasingly important, last week, we were delighted to have our Director of Safeguarding and Pupil Welfare, Mrs Sophie Blunt , launch the first instalment of her Parenting the Teenager series, with a powerful and practical talk on keeping the younger generation safe online.
Entitled, ‘It Takes a Village: A Parent’s Guide to Online Safety’, Sophie’s session explored the realities facing young people in today’s digital world. Drawing on recent research, and her own 15 years’ experience at Wycombe Abbey, she highlighted key trends and challenges that parents should be aware of, while also sharing trusted resources and websites to support families navigating this space.

In a topic that can often feel complex or contentious, Sophie offered a balanced perspective, emphasising the importance of allowing young people to build digital skills, while equipping parents with a framework to create safe and supportive online environments.
A big thank you to Mrs Sophie Blunt for opening the series in such an engaging and informative way, and to all the parents who attended.
