Parenting the Teenager: Wellbeing at Wycombe Abbey
21 October 2024 - All

On the evening of Monday 14 October, we were delighted to welcome parents to our first Parenting the Teenager talk of the Academic Year. The Parenting the Teenager series is designed to allow parents to hear from both internal and external speakers, and learn more about living with, working with, and raising teenagers.
Monday evening’s talk focused on Wellbeing at Wycombe Abbey. Miss Ella Calder, Head of PSHE, and Mrs Sophie Blunt, Director of Safeguarding and Pupil Welfare, guided parents through the Wellbeing curriculum at Wycombe Abbey. They discussed the types of lesson resources used, pupil feedback and how it has shaped the curriculum and the physical classroom environment, as well as addressing some of the parent feedback received during the recent Parent Consultation on PSHE and RSE. Mrs Sophie Blunt, who also leads on Online Safety in her role as the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, also explained the use of Smoothwall to provide a valuable insight into the lived experience of the girls within our care.
This was a wonderful opportunity to highlight the excellent work being done by Miss Calder and Mrs Blunt. My sincere thanks go to them both for putting the presentation together, as well as to the parents who attended and made the event such a success. A recording of the session will be sent to parents in the coming weeks.
The full outline of the Parenting the Teenager talks for the 2024-25 Academic Year is available above. I look forward to welcoming more parents to the next event.
