Welcome from Jo Duncan | 16 March 2021

Welcome from Jo Duncan

I am pleased to say that the return to School has gone smoothly; we miss the girls who have not been able to return and look forward to seeing them after Easter. Our hybrid learners have shown resilience and tenacity during this phase of remote learning and I am always impressed with how our pupils are able to tackle the challenges presented to them. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to you for your cooperation whilst waiting for test results to be returned and to the staff who set up and managed the testing centre in the Chapel.

Looking to the future, Wycombe Abbey will celebrate its 125th Anniversary next year. We are proud to have a long tradition of educating young women and we are planning a calendar of celebratory events throughout the 2021-2022 academic year. I have appointed Ms Emma Bowen as Chair of the 125th Anniversary Committee; we have many exciting things in the pipeline and I look forward to sharing details of our programme with you in due course. One aspect of the celebrations will be a programme of keynote speakers throughout the year. I would be grateful if any parents have connections to potential speakers who may be willing to donate their time would get in touch with me on [email protected].

On a related note, our new five-year strategic plan is available here for your interest. I hope this will give you a clear sense of how the School is seeking to develop in the coming years. It will be published on the School website as a clear statement of our intentions and I will be updating parents regularly on our progress on the six key areas.

Best wishes
