Summer Sailing Success

In early July, four Wycombe Abbey sailors (India (UV), Pippa (UIV), Margot (UV) and Flo (UIV)) took part in the Feva School’s Week for a two-day event. It was extremely windy, but the team came 3rd overall out of 104 boats, which was an outstanding achievement.

In mid-July, India took part in the IODA Optimist European Championships in Greece. She finished 3rd out of a team of seven GBR sailors. This event was for the 242 top sailors in Europe. At the end of August, India also competed in the 420 British National Championships in Wales, using a new bigger boat, where she and her crew came 2nd in the U17 female pair. She will now compete in this boat going forward with the intention of securing a place at the 420 European Championships in Greece in 2024.

Pippa (UIV) took part in the French National Optimist Championships and came 3rd, another amazing achievement. On the basis of her performance she has been selected to represent GBR in the Asian and Oceania Optimist Championships in October/November taking place in Abu Dhabi. Congratulations Pippa!
