Sixth Form Lecture

The second Sixth Form Lecture of this year was delivered by the Rt Hon Baroness Bottomley of Nettlestone on Friday. Drawing on her long career in politics and business, her talk analysed the challenges faced by women in leadership roles. She outlined some of the inequalities that continue in the senior levels of many professions, while highlighting encouraging trends for the next generation. The former Secretary of State for Health described the “imposter syndrome”, where high-achieving women sometimes doubt their accomplishments. She encouraged the girls to have the confidence to take the lead and to deal with setbacks with good humour.
