Sharing Science with a Partner School

At the end of last term, we were delighted to welcome 12 pupils from Paddington Academy, one of our partner schools in London. This group of Year 10 girls were visiting Wycombe Abbey to get to know some of our LVI pupils who have volunteered to set up a mentoring scheme. This will form part of a programme to support girls at partner schools considering taking Physics at A level. The mentoring will take place online, using the Colet Mentoring app. It is hoped that we will expand this provision and offer it to a range of other partner schools, with the schools setting extra physics problems for their pupils, which our A level physicists will help with.

All the pupils bonded very well, working together on a series of challenging experiments with standing waves, discussing numerous other physics problems, and enjoying a tour of the School. It was a superb day for both the Wycombe Abbey and Paddington Academy pupils, providing a solid foundation on which they will continue to explore physics and get to know each other. We look forward to many more sessions in the future.
